Your job as Materials Analyst FTIR/Raman

Supporting innovations by identifying materials and origin from the inkjet printing processes

By developing innovative inks and printing devices, we are changing the world of printing and your expertise is needed to successfully deliver these new products to our (potential) customers. Your entrepreneurial mindset combined with your creativity and strong analytical skills enables you to successfully identify material interaction problems and support the implementation of solutions towards projects.

In this role, you will mainly work with vibrational (FTIR and Raman) spectroscopy and –microscopy techniques, which are employed to elucidate complex material interactions between inkjet inks and a myriad of materials that these inks come into contact with, during their lifespan from production up to the final printed product. Vibrational spectroscopy is applied to identify deposition/reaction products that have formed and to determine their chemical composition. This identification step is vital in tracing back the origin of material interactions and therefore a necessity to obtain a durable solution.

Who are we looking for?

You possess strong analytical skills, initiative and a drive to deliver inventive solutions. You are good at planning your work and keeping the overview over a large collection of different assignments and at managing communication with all the involved stakeholders.

Furthermore, you meet the following criteria:

  • You have a Bachelor or Master degree in (Analytical) Chemistry, Materials Science, or similar.
  • A proven affinity for analyses and measurements. Knowledge of and experience with FTIR and/or Raman spectroscopy.
  • Experience with FTIR/Raman microscopy applications is highly preferred.
  • Experience with optical microscopy, SEM and EDX measurements is a plus.
  • You speak up and display your initiative and creativity. You show strong organizing and decision making skills and act pragmatically with a hands-on approach.
  • Good communication skills in English – verbal and written. Profound knowledge of Dutch is a plus.

Part of our Research & Development organization, the department Analysis & Measurements (± 35 employees) contributes to product development and research subjects from an expertise point of view. The department houses several specialist measurement techniques, develops and ensures sufficient knowledge on crucial subjects related to printing technologies and maintains relations with external (research) partners. Within this department you are part of the Chemical Analysis team.
