System Architect – Mechanical & Electrical
Are you an experienced professional able to translate complex stakeholder requirements into innovative and successful product architectures? For our innovation center in Venlo, the Netherlands, we are looking for an Engineer with experience in product design and development. Explore our vacancy and apply now!

As System Architect – Mechanical & Electrical

  • you are a key player in the architecture team
  • you develop and realize product architectures that fit our business strategy
  • you are responsible for translating customer needs into new technology, product concepts and designs,
  • you remain aware of the latest relevant patent literature


Mechanical Engineering

As a mechanical engineering architect you are challenged to deliver high performance, low cost mechatronic systems concepts. From your initial idea and vision, to the final tested solution, you challenge yourself and your fellow architects to define successful concepts, models, prototypes and designs. Areas you will work on include productive, high-speed sheetfed and continuous feed media handling systems, high-precision printhead and ink handling systems, printhead positioning and motion systems.


Electrical/Electronic Engineering

As an Electrical/Electronic Architect you are responsible for the innovation and development of the dynamic behavior of hardware and electronics in our leading digital print systems. You will play a crucial role in our multidisciplinary product development teams, where you will be responsible for predicting, analyzing and optimizing imaging performance and high- speed data transport. You will create and implement a vision on cameras for print quality inspection as well as high-spec, reliable motion systems. You will develop robust system architectures, and set up model-based designs for motion systems based on virtual prototyping.


A good example…

is the Océ VarioPrint i300, a revolution in cutsheet inkjet production printing. It has for example an ingenious paper path that uses vacuum suction to hold sheets flat on its seamless, stainless steel paper transport belt. Sheets move through the Océ VarioPrint i300, printing up to 294 letter images per minute or 8,500 sheets per hour. Along the way, a 3D camera Sentry unit inspects, detects, and rejects sheets with imperfections. The ability to draw from multiple paper sources, automatic duplexing, and in-line connectivity to finishing equipment makes it an optimal device for Transaction, TransPromo, Direct Mail, Booklets and Manuals.

As our ideal System Architect you are:
You are an architect or (senior) designer, with proven leadership experience as coach, project lead and/or team lead.  Furthermore you are

• A professional with an MSc or PhD and at least 3 years in realizing a vision for product design and development
• An entrepreneur, driven by a passion to facilitate technological breakthroughs independently
• A “Can-do” professional able to create verified and validated on-demand solutions, and well organized
• A multicultural team player with excellent written and spoken English
• Able to communicate well with customers, managers and colleagues at all levels in the organization, in an inspiring and convincing way.
• Analytical, with excellent organizational skills and a strong results-driven mindset
• Permissioned to work in the Netherlands
